Position Title: Student Marketing and Communications Assistant IV
Job Function: Public Relation
Job Purpose: To assist Professor Harry Cheng and Program Manager Heidi Espindola in the Integration Engineering Laboratory / UC Davis C-STEM Center
Under the general direction of the UC Davis C-STEM Program Manager at the College of Engineering, assist with writing, video and other content development for a variety of media, and related administrative duties as assigned.
The UC Davis C-STEM Center seeks a multitalented marketing assistant with experience in interviewing, developing and maintaining content for both print and web.
Duties include updating and publishing web pages and managing content on the Center’s Web sites, including text, images, graphics and videos; developing content for publications, social media sites and email newsletters; and creating videos and multimedia presentations.
Other responsibilities include keeping the Center’s social media sites such as Facebook updated; monitoring trends in social media/networks; conducting marketing research; and photography.
Assist with publication mailings; assemble marketing materials; and maintain archive of photos, news clippings and marketing materials.
Assist with event organization, scheduling and reserving spaces and equipment.
Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign; Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Familiarity with HTML and web content development, web design and content editing software are a plus.
Ability to learn web content management system, and web-applications and interfaces for event management, media-rich e-mail and other digital publishing platforms used by the Center.
Experience using social media, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest, to serve as contributor on Center’s accounts.
Professional manner, excellent organizational and teamwork skills. Must be able to work in a busy group environment, make independent decisions, work under multiple deadline pressure, and handle a high degree of responsibility.
Marketing and media knowledge preferred. Students with demonstrated experience with these marketing, communications and technical computer skills are encouraged to apply.
