I have a Raspberry Pi 3B in which I used PINN to setup Raspbian, C-STEMbian and Kali using a USB WD hard drive. Raspbian and Kali work just fine and C-STEMbian did work wonderfully but now when I log in, the login box disappears and then comes back for me to login again.

The only options are to shutdown or continue the login loop. I tried to repair the installation from the setup menu but I still get the same problem. I have never had this problem and so I do not know how to fix it. If someone could help me I would be grateful.

Hi…I had this problem and discovered that the shell being started to bring up the desktop (/bin/sh) is really just a symbolic link to dash (/bin/dash). I don’t recall the details, but figured out that I had things in my .profile that were incompatible with dash and was causing the startup to fail.
The desktop had been working fine before I did an update, so I assume the update changed the link?
