A C-STEM Success Story

The 2025 California School Dashboard press release from the California Department of Education highlighted New Haven USD’s strong progress in mathematics, with average student scores increasing by 11 points since last year.

Superintendent John Thompson credits this growth to the dedication of students, educators, and staff and prioritizing math achievement through its partnership with University of California Davis C-STEM, where students learn mathematics through coding and robotics.

Learn More about NHUSD and Hillview Crest ES which achieved a 41% Improvement in Students Meeting or Exceeding State Math Standards before and after adopting C-STEM.

McPherson Magnet School's Macy's Day Robotics Parade

Ms. Wyckoff and Ms. Garrett’s 4th and 5th-graders brought the holiday spirit to life by organizing McPherson’s 1st Annual Macy’s Day Robotics Parade. Complete with festive balloons and miniature cityscapes, their coded robots glided along a parade route in the school cafeteria. Parents, friends, and community members joined in to cheer on the students’ creativity and teamwork.

McPherson Magnet School's OmniTurkey Robots

Ms. Lauri Truong’s 6th–8th grade C-STEM students engineered OmniTurkeys using Omnibots, Arduino, and joystick controls, programming their creations to strut proudly with fluffy white feathers.
