C-STEM GIRL and GIRL+ Camps
The free 1-week GIRL and GIRL+ Camps are held in the summer at UC Davis and nationwide through C-STEM GIRL Camp Affiliates.
C-STEM Girls in Robotics Leadership (GIRL) Camp
One-week camp for middle school students from grades 7 to 8 in the coming fall.
The 1-week Girls in Robotics Leadership (GIRL) camp, using the UC Davis C-STEM GIRL Camp curriculum, is focused on motivating middle school students through peer mentoring by college students to learn leadership and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts through a fun and exciting robotics-based curriculum. Each camp has 20 middle school students as camp participants, two high school students as assistant coaches, two college students as coaches, and one teacher/staff as a mentor and coordinator. The campers learn teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. They meet inspiring women leaders working with science and technology to gain exposure to the variety of opportunities available to them. The campers are introduced to robotics, principles of engineering, and computer programming. The campers also learn film production and the creative process involved in making short videos with robotics in the context of a global problem. The videos are produced in the format suitable for RoboPlay Video Competition. Campers visit university research labs and dine in a campus common to experience campus life. The week ends with student teams presenting their projects to families of the campers and celebration of the GIRL!

One-week camp for high school students from grades 10 to 12 in the coming fall.
The 1-week Girls in Robotics Leadership+ (GIRL+) camp, using the UC Davis C-STEM GIRL+ Camp curriculum, is focused on motivating high school students through peer mentoring by college students to learn leadership and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts through a fun and exciting physical computing with Arduino and robotics curriculum. Each camp has 20 high school students as camp participants, two college students as coaches, and one teacher/staff as a mentor and coordinator. The campers learn teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. They meet inspiring women leaders working with science and technology to gain exposure to the variety of opportunities available to them. The campers are introduced to computer programming, advanced robotics with sensors, creative engineering design, and RoboPlay Challenge Competition. The campers also learn film production and the creative process involved in making short videos with physical computing and robotics in the context of a global problem. The videos are produced in the format suitable for RoboPlay Video Competition. Campers visit university research labs and dine in a campus common to experience campus life. The week ends with student teams presenting their projects to families of the campers and celebration of the GIRL+!
* While the purpose of the camps is to motivate girls to learn leadership and STEM concepts, all students, regardless of gender are welcome to apply.
