UC’s SAT debate should focus on preparing students — not just selecting them

I'm pleased to share my latest opinion article, "UC's SAT debate should focus on preparing students — not just selecting them," published in The Sacramento Bee and other California newspapers.

"The University of California is reviewing whether to reinstate the SAT and ACT, two nationally administered college admissions tests, as part of its undergraduate admissions process. More than 3,000 UC professors have signed open letters calling for the return of the SAT and ACT, highlighting growing concern about the mathematical preparation of students entering college."

The article focuses on a larger question than whether the University of California should reinstate the SAT and ACT: How can California better prepare students with the mathematical knowledge and skills needed for college and career success, regardless of the admissions policy the University of California ultimately adopts?
