Solano County GIRL Camp 2025

Solano County launched the first C-STEM Girls Robotics Leadership (GIRL) Camp of 2025 at Solano Community College’s Vacaville Center, hosted by the Solano County Office of Education (SCOE).

This free, week-long camp gave middle and high school girls hands-on experience in robotics, coding, and leadership. Using reconfigurable Linkbot robots and Arduino boards, students tackled space-themed challenges while developing technical skills and building confidence.

Highlights included coding workshops, a tour of SCC’s biomanufacturing lab with Professor Jim DeKloe, and a final showcase where campers presented their projects to families and community members.

Camp coach Vera Cho, an Early College student, shared how the program empowers participants to collaborate, grow as leaders, and envision a future in STEM, especially in fields where women are underrepresented.
