2023 RoboPlay Competition
RoboPlay Competition is a level-playing field robotics competition with a focus on applying math to solve real-world problems. It provides an opportunity for K-12 students to showcase their math problem-solving skills, creativity, and teamwork skills.
Due to the growth of the C-STEM program, it has become difficult to host a competition at UC Davis for all C-STEM teachers. Starting this year, we will work with school districts to host a RoboPlay Competition for teachers in their school districts and region. A new format of RoboPlay Competition in 2023 typically takes place during a school day from 1-4pm (thee teams per competition table, 1 hour for practice and 1:30 hours for competition) or 1-4:30pm (four teams per competition table, 1 hour for practice and 2 hours for competition) in an appropriately-sized venue in the hosting district.
Each academic year, C-STEM will provide challenge tasks (challenges) and solution videos for various grade levels. To ensure fairness, these challenges will only be provided to District contacts who oversee the organization of the RoboPlay Competitions. School districts that host RoboPlay Competitions may submit their student teams' scores to be ranked statewide. Once the academic year is over, the challenges will be posted for teachers to access and utilize in classes.
